Hand-woven using locally sourced palm and banana leaves, this basket was designed with beauty and function in mind. The bold colors, striped design, and roomy nature of the basket make it a unique storage solution packing a modern punch. Throw on the lid to keep clutter out-of-sight, or leave it off and use the basket to house a potted plant. Either way, it’s a sophisticated finish to any space.
Each basket is made by a large cooperative of women in a rural mountain village in Western Uganda. Because a different woman weaves each basket by hand over the course of several weeks, no two are completely alike—resulting in a true one-of-a-kind piece that you’ll enjoy for years to come.
Keep the basket in dry, cool areas, and dust regularly with a soft cloth. The dye may fade slightly over time, especially if kept in an area with direct sunlight, but with proper care, it should remain beautiful and vibrant for years to come.
Due to the use of natural materials, the basket can be sensitive to temperature and humidity changes. This could potentially cause it to slightly expand and contract, which can make securing or removing the lid slightly difficult. If this happens, remove the basket from high-humidity areas and give it a day or two. We assure you, the basket will return to its intended shape and size soon!
