After three years of living in East Africa, we made the long journey to our new home in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California, a small beach community just north of San Diego. Home to a few well-known surf spots, the vibe of the laid-back town gives us serious style nostalgia for the “California dream” of the 1960s, a time we associate with bright colors and retro stripes. This is the design inspiration behind our Cardiff throw.
This is the perfect throw to bring along on a beach picnic, to use around the campfire, or to drape over your favorite lounge chair.
For this light throw, we teamed up with a talented group of master weavers working in a fair-trade environment in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The all-natural cotton was handpicked and then hand-spun on looms and the dyes used are natural and non-toxic. The tiny black spots or specs that you sometimes see in the material are from natural seeds of the cotton, making each piece unique and slightly textured—but no less soft.
Dry clean only, as the natural dyes can sometimes bleed if soaked in water.
