Handmade from authentic Bògòlanfini, a handmade Malian cotton fabric dyed traditionally with fermented mud, this vintage pillow is organic and earthy while still feeling modern and contemporary.
The mud cloth is dyed and woven on narrow looms by men and women using a time-tested, cumbersome technique. Traditionally, bògòlanfini is worn by hunters as camouflage or by women after their initiation into adulthood or following childbirth. The cloth is believed to have the power to absorb dangerous forces.
Each pillow is rich in cultural significance, telling a different story with its elaborate and complex geometric designs and patterns - referring to historical events, battles and mythological proverbs.
Included is an extra plush hypoallergenic down-alternative insert.
Pillow Cover: Professional dry cleaning is recommended.
Pillow Insert: Machine wash separately on gentle cycle in warm water with like colors. Do not bleach, iron or dry clean. Tumble dry low.
